Removing motorway hard shoulders increases danger

I saw the headline and agreed straight away, it just seems a way of the government saving a few quid but putting peoples lives at risk. I know I don't feel safe travelling on roads without them.

Of course it would be better to have a normal 4-lane motorway in the first place with proper hard shoulder, but in many cases this may not be practical or affordable.
