PSA Peugeot Citroen has taken bold action in reducing the costs of development and production by aiming to reduce its model lineup from 45 to 26 models by 2020. Another benefit will be more efficient use of research time and resources as focusing on 26 models instead of 45 will be easier.

These plans are part of a broader "back in the race" plan that will also include expansion into China. PSA Peugeot Citroen wants to expand production by 2020 with help from its partner Dongfeng.

45 is a lot of models. I can see why they would want to reduce that number. I wonder what their new strategy involves other than just reducing the number of vehicles and entering China. Are they going to try to consolidate the models onto common chassis perhaps?
